A must for any screenwriter, the table read is a fun and essential step nearing the completion of the writing process.
Actors are cast for the roles and gather in a space, (in person or via Zoom), to enact the screenplay. This allows the writer to hear their written words read aloud, sometimes for the first time, and to make the connection between words on a page and the page come to life.
Often, this process will result in minor changes or alterations, especially in dialogue as characters become real people in the room. No longer does the story exist solely within the mind. And in the joy of collaboration, the script often finds life in unexpected ways.
When any writer with Script Alchemy completes a group course or engages in a minimum of three one-on-one consultation sessions, they unlock the option to sign up for a live table read in Los Angeles, to be read in front of Independent Film producers from Cinekat Filmworks as well as invited guests.
In addition, they will have access to a network of skilled actors to choose to cast from.
*The process may be filmed if requested by the screenwriter and agreed upon by all actors involved.
